The Member Experience

Posting photos and videos

How members share a photo or video, add stickers and text, and react to each other's posts.

Some actions ask members to share a photo or a short video, like a picture with a yard sign. Members can take it right in the app or pick one they already have.

Posting

  1. Open the action and choose Use the camera or Choose a photo or video.
  2. The camera fills the screen on a phone, and opens in a large panel on a computer. Choose Photo or Video above the big button. What's on screen is what's saved. Select the x at the top left to close the camera without taking anything.
  3. Add stickers and text if you like. In the camera, use Text and Stickers on the right before you take the photo or start recording. For a photo or video from your phone, select Stickers & text on it. Drag an item to move it, pinch to resize it, and twist two fingers to turn it. To remove one, tap it and select the x on its corner. With a mouse, select it and drag the round handle on its corner to resize and turn it. Tap text again to change it. Select Done when you're finished, or the x at the top to throw your changes away. After you take a photo you can still move things, then select Use photo, or the x to take it again. Some actions let you search for stickers too: open the sticker button and choose Search. A moving sticker on a photo turns it into a short looping video. To start over with a different photo or video, select the x on it.
  4. Add a caption if you like. If the action offers tags, you can pick one, or leave it on No tag. Some actions ask for a tag. Then pick Other if none fits.
  5. Tick Show it on the page if you want other members and the organizers to see it and reshare it. It's off until you choose it.
  6. Select Upload. If the action asks for a tag and you haven't picked one, it shows you where. If you left Show it on the page off, you're asked once whether you meant to: choose Show it on the page or Keep it private.

Points arrive once the upload goes through. Once you've earned an action's points, you can keep posting to the page from the wall's Upload button, but those posts don't earn points. Some actions also offer bonus points for posting it on your own social media: select Share, post it, and when you come back select I posted it. On a phone this shares the photo or video itself, and the button shows Preparing… until it's ready. On a computer it downloads the file and copies the caption, so you can post it from there.

Stickers that follow you

In a video, a sticker or text can follow someone's face. While you drag it, a dashed outline shows around each face in view. Drop it inside a face's outline and it stays on the face as they move, lean in and tilt. Anywhere else, it stays where you put it.

Select something that follows a face and a small face badge shows on its corner, with its other buttons. Tap the badge to make it stay where it is instead. To put it on someone again, drag it back inside their outline.

This works in the camera's Video mode, and with a video you pick from your phone. It finds faces on your own device. Nothing about your face is sent anywhere or saved. The first time, it takes a moment to load.

We remove the location and other hidden details from every photo and video before anyone sees it.

Walls and reactions

Posts members chose to share show in the "From members" section of the campaign page, and on the organization's Wall tab. Anyone can look. Select See all to scroll through every post full screen, or Upload to post your own. Members who are signed in can react with 🔥 👏 ❤️ or 🗳️: tap the smiley button to pick one, or tap a reaction someone already left to add yours. Reacting earns a few points, and so does getting reactions on your own post, up to a daily limit.

To see who reacted, tap the count next to the reactions, like 3 reactions. The list has a tab for each emoji, and each name opens that member's profile. On a phone, press and hold a reaction to see who left that one. On a computer, hover over it.

Each post's menu has Share and, once you're signed in, Download. Full screen, Share sits at the bottom of the post, and the rest is in its menu.

  • Share sends a link that opens the post, with its caption. In most apps the link shows the photo as its preview. When you're signed in, people who join through your link count as your referrals. On a computer it copies the link.
  • Share photo or Share video, on a phone, sends the file itself to an app that needs it, like Instagram or TikTok. It shows Preparing… until the file is ready.
  • Download saves the file to your device.

Visitors who aren't signed in can share a post's link, but not the file. You can also follow the member who posted it from the small button on their picture.

Your uploads are listed in the action's window. Each one shows whether it's on the page and has a Share button. Its menu lets you hide it from the page, show it again, or delete it. Only posts on the page can be remixed. If someone reports your post, it may be hidden while the organizers take a look. You won't see who reported it. If an organizer hides, removes or restores your post, you get a notification.

You can report a post once. After that its menu shows Reported.

Your posts also collect on your profile, at the bottom of the Actions tab. You can pin up to 3 of them there, or hide one from your profile while it stays on its campaign. See Profiles.

Remixes

You can build on another member's post from the wall. Open its menu and choose Remix this, then pick how:

  • Respond posts your own photo or video as a reply to theirs.
  • Duet records you under their video, with their sound mixed in. Duets work with videos only, and go up to three deep (a duet of a duet of a duet).

A remix goes through the same action as the post you remixed, so it earns that action's points. Once your remix is shown on the campaign, you also earn a few remix points, and the member you remixed earns a few too, up to a daily limit. Remixing your own post earns nothing extra.

A remix shows "Remix of" with the original member's name, and a post shows how many remixes it has. Select that count to see the post and its remixes full screen. After you post a remix you can share it on social media, the same as any upload. To stop remixes of one of your posts, hide it from the page in the action's window.
