Squads
How a member's shared link grows into a Squad, and the bonus its captain can collect.
When people take action through a member's personal link, that group becomes a Squad on that campaign, and the member who shared the link becomes its captain. It is a way to recognize members who bring others in, campaign by campaign.
How a Squad forms
A Squad starts building from the very first action someone takes through a member's link, or from a campaign or action pinned to their profile. There is no signup step and nothing for the member to set up. Once a member shares a campaign, or someone acts on something pinned to their profile, they are a captain.
A Squad's action count stays private, even from its own captain, until it reaches 3 actions. A single click never shows up as a public "Squad of one."
Where members see it
A member's profile has a Squads tab. It lists every campaign where their link has driven at least 3 actions, along with how many actions each one has driven.
The profile header also shows a single Driven total, added up across every campaign a member has ever driven action on. Once a member has driven action on two or more campaigns, that total shows right away, even while an individual campaign in the Squads tab still reads "Getting started." Adding several campaigns together already keeps a single action from standing out. A member who is only active on one campaign so far still sees the same 3-action minimum on their total, since there is nothing yet to add it together with.
The captain bonus
A captain can earn a bonus based on how many actions their Squad drives on a campaign each week. Like other points a member collects, it shows up as a card on the campaign page. The captain taps it to bank whatever has built up.
- The card says the actions came from people who arrived through the captain's link, and shows exactly who took action, not just a number.
- The bonus counts toward the campaign's weekly leaderboard and progress bar, like any other points earned there.
- The bonus has a weekly cap. If a Squad drives more actions than the cap covers, the card still shows everyone who took part. It is honest about why no further points are landing that week, rather than just showing a smaller number or disappearing.
- A captain has a little room to catch up: the card covers the current week and the one before it, so missing a day or two never means losing the points.
How this fits with referrals
Referrals and Squads can both come from the same shared link, but they never pay a member twice for the same action. When the one action that brings in a brand-new supporter also grows a member's Squad, only the referral pays for that action. Every other action still counts toward the Squad bonus as usual. So a new supporter's first action shows up as a Successful Referral card, and everything they do after that shows up on the Squad bonus card. See Kudos and referrals for how referrals work.
