Integrations
Connect Action Network, Mobilize, ControlShift, and VoteAmerica so their CTAs work on your pages.
Several CTA types connect to outside tools. There are two kinds of setup.
- Organization level, done once: Action Network, Mobilize, and ControlShift. You connect your account under Member Data, then their CTAs work on any page.
- Per CTA, done on each action: VoteAmerica. You enter the details right on the CTA in the page builder.
Disconnecting an organization-level integration deletes its saved API key. To reconnect, enter the key again.
Action Network
Connecting Action Network turns on its Petition, Event, Letter, Call, Form, and Survey CTAs.
- In the admin, go to Member Data then Integrations.
- Find the Action Network card and paste your Action Network API key.
- Select Connect. Organiz checks the key against Action Network before saving it.
- Once connected, the card shows the date you connected and recent sync activity. Your key is stored encrypted.
After this, you can add any Action Network CTA in the page builder.
What syncs to Action Network
Once Action Network is connected, Organiz sends people to it as they take action. This covers every CTA type that records a completion. That includes Action Network, Mobilize, and ControlShift actions, Sign Up forms, Text a Contact sessions, and link, embed, video, and social CTAs. Nothing is sent for actions taken before you connected.
For each person, Organiz sends their email, name, phone number, SMS consent, and ZIP code when it has them. If the person already exists in Action Network, their record is updated instead of duplicated.
Organiz also adds two tags so you can build reports and targets:
organiz:{action type}:{page}says which kind of action they took and where, for exampleorganiz:an_petition:save-the-bay.organiz:campaign:{page}says they took any action on that campaign.
A tag is either on a person or not. Taking the same action twice does not add
it twice. Text a Contact adds a second tag, organiz:text_a_contact_success,
when the member actually reached someone.
Numbers go into custom fields, which always hold the latest value:
| Custom field | What it holds |
|---|---|
organiz_total_points | Lifetime points the member has earned |
organiz_level | Their level, based on those points |
organiz_total_actions | Actions they have taken in your organization |
organiz_last_action_at | When they last took an action |
organiz_member_since | When they joined Organiz |
organiz_tac_attempts | People they tried to contact with Text a Contact |
organiz_tac_successes | People they reached with Text a Contact |
Signing someone else up
Forms fill in the member's own details, but members can change them. If a signed-in member enters a different email, that person is still sent to Action Network with the tags. The member's points and level are left off, so nobody gets someone else's numbers. The same goes for anyone who takes action while signed out.
Completion limits
If you set a CTA to be completed only once, a member can't submit it again after they finish. This applies to Action Network, Mobilize, and ControlShift forms too.
Mobilize
Connecting Mobilize turns on the Mobilize Event CTA.
- Get a Mobilize API key with write access to the Create Attendance endpoint. Email support@mobilize.us to request write access, then find your key under Settings in your Mobilize dashboard.
- In the admin, go to Member Data then Integrations.
- Find the Mobilize card and paste your API key.
- Enter your Mobilize organization ID. It's shown at the top of Settings in your Mobilize dashboard.
- Select Connect. Organiz checks that the key belongs to that organization and saves it encrypted. The card then shows which Mobilize organization you're connected to.
If you disconnect Mobilize, its event CTAs stop working until you reconnect.
If members see "Unable to process your RSVP" on a Mobilize event, check that the card shows your own Mobilize organization. If it doesn't, disconnect and connect again with your organization ID.
ControlShift
Connecting ControlShift turns on the ControlShift Petition and ControlShift Event CTAs.
- In the admin, go to Member Data then Integrations.
- On the ControlShift card, enter:
- API key, from your ControlShift account.
- Region, US or EU, matching where your ControlShift account is hosted.
- Organization, your ControlShift subdomain. For
labtronics.controlshift.app, enterlabtronics. - Email Opt-In Type ID. In ControlShift, go to Settings then Email Opt-In Types and copy the external ID of the type new signers should get.
- Select Connect. Organiz checks the details and saves the key encrypted.
- In the page builder, add a ControlShift Petition or ControlShift Event CTA and paste the full URL of the petition or event.
Members sign or RSVP right in the CTA, and their signature or RSVP goes straight to your ControlShift account.
If you disconnect ControlShift, its CTAs stop working until you reconnect.
VoteAmerica
VoteAmerica is set up on each CTA using the embed code VoteAmerica gives you.
- In the page builder, add a VoteAmerica CTA.
- Paste the embed code from your VoteAmerica account.
- Save. The voter tool shows up when a member opens the CTA.
Points and VoteAmerica
VoteAmerica only reports completed actions for paid VoteAmerica Plus accounts. On a free embed, members can still complete the action, but points are not awarded automatically.
Contact import and activation
You can import your CRM contact list and have Organiz send the invitation emails for you. That flow has its own guide, see Import your list.
External action credits
Members often take action outside Organiz, like a phone bank run on a dialer or an in-person canvass. You can give them points for that work by uploading the attendance list.
- In the admin, go to Member Data then Integrations.
- Find the External action credits card.
- Enter a source (the tool or program the list came from), an action name, and the points each person should get. Give each event its own action name, like "Phone bank June 12". That name is how Organiz knows two uploads are different events.
- Choose your CSV file and select Import and credit. The file needs an email or external_id column. Most exports from dialers and CRMs work as is. Select Download template on the card if you want a file to match.
Your file can also carry optional points, source, and action columns. A filled cell overrides the settings above for that row, so one file can mix several tools or award different amounts to different people. Blank cells fall back to the settings.
After the import, a summary shows how many members were credited, how many were already credited from an earlier upload, how many are held for sign up, and how many could not be matched. You can download a row by row result file to check any misses.
Safe to re-upload
Each person is credited once per source and action name. If you upload the same file twice, the second upload skips everyone who was already credited. To reward someone for two different phone banks, give each one its own action name. Both will credit.
Unmatched rows are held, not dropped
This never creates an account. A row that does not match a current member is held with no member attached to it yet. If that person signs up later with the same email, the points credit automatically and they see a welcome moment listing what they earned. Held rows expire after 180 days if nobody ever signs up. There is currently no page to check which rows are still held. The only way to know is to wait and see whether your credited count goes up later.
This pairs well with event CTAs. Let the RSVP award a small amount right away, and tell members in the CTA description that attending earns more. After the event, upload the attendance list to credit the people who showed up.
These points are a thank you for verified work, so they do not count against the daily points cap and do not move weekly campaign tiers. Each member's credited actions appear in their member detail under External Actions.
